Please be advised that Mr. Edmund Grant, CPPO, CPPB has vacated
his position as NIGP Treasurer in order to focus on career demands.
Accordingly, the NIGP Board of Directors is required to appoint a successor
to fill Mr. Grant’s unexpired term as Treasurer through June 30, 2014. The
successor will be eligible for reappointment for 2 consecutive terms of 3
years.
THE
PROCESS FOR SELECTING A SUCCESSOR IS AS FOLLOWS:
1.
ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES must meet this
criteria:
a. All
potential candidates shall be a member of NIGP.
b. All potential candidates shall hold either a current
certification as a Certified Public Procurement
Officer (CPPO) and/or as a Certified
Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) issued by the
Universal Public
Purchasing Certification Council (UPPCC) and/or hold a
current certification
issued by a professional
purchasing organization recognized by NIGP.
c.
Eligible candidates shall not be a current member of the Board of Directors.
It
is desirable that potential candidates be able to demonstrate an
understanding of, and practical experience in, the Institute’s governance
structure through assignments to Institute committees and/or task forces. It is also
desirable that potential candidates be able to demonstrate leadership
qualities through the NIGP Chapter Affiliate network and/or through other
collegial associations that serve the public procurement community.
It is further desirable that candidates
have related experience in budgeting, financial management, and risk
assessment.
2. APPLICATIONS
from candidates seeking appointment as NIGP Treasurer must submit their
application
to the Governance Committee by Wednesday, February 20, 2013,
close of business.

the February 20 deadline.
3. TIMELINE FOR APPOINTMENT:
After the deadline has passed, The NIGP Governance Committee will
review applications of eligible candidates
and forward a recommendation of no more than two candidates
to the NIGP Board of Directors for further
consideration.
The
NIGP Board of Directors will make its final selection for the appointment of
NIGP Treasurer no later than March 4, 2013.
4. COMMITMENT AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Members who are interested in serving as NIGP Treasurer
should be aware of the financial and time commitments:
Minimum
out–of-the-office commitments will include four face-to-face meetings each
year at various locations,
plus the possibility of occasional telephonic meetings.
a.
Annual Forum (July/August) - Four Days in Conjunction with the Annual Forum
b. Fall Meeting: (October/November) - Two Days
c. Annual Budget Conference (February/March) - One Day
d. Spring Meeting (March/April) - Two Days
Once
appointed, the Treasurer will serve as Chair of the Finance Committee and is
strongly
encouraged to attend
the annual budget conference in
Herndon, Virginia on March 22, 2013.
